Where to eat in KL: Afternoon tea at 2OX

Bonjour, ça va? Trying to speak a little French today because I'll be writing about my afternoon tea session at 2OX, a French Bistro in KL. Anyway "Bonjour, ça va?" literally translates to "Hello, how it's going?".  2OX is located at The Heritage Row KL that brings all time favorite classic bistros together at one place. It is situated just next to the Sheraton Imperial Hotel. 2OX basically serves classic French menu which include ala carte such as beef tartare, seared salmon, braised ox-tail and duck confit. The 2OX KL too serves afternoon tea where you can enjoy it both indoor or outdoor, priced at RM70 (for 2 pax) every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

While only standing at the entrance at 2OX, you would feel as if you were being transported to Paris because the relaxed ambiance and its simple cafe decoration are giving you all the Parisian cafe feels. The photos below will show you exactly what I'm trying to describe.

Its outdoor: Such a cozy place to enjoy your afternoon tea here!

The indoor

It's such a pleasure opportunity to be able to enjoy my French afternoon tea on a Sunday evening with my sister. While the British have their delectable hi tea, the French is equivalent to Le Goûter (pronounced as le goo tay). It is taken in the afternoon and is always sweet. People who have sweet tooth will definitely enjoy this one. However, afternoon tea at 2OX is a little different because the set comes with some savory food. Let's take a look at the afternoon tea set shall we?

The afternoon tea set at 2OX KL
The afternoon tea set comes in a two-tiered curate stand that is filled with chicken sandwich, focaccia and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on the first tier followed by some croissants and scones on the second tier. It also comes with sweets such as vanilla creme brulee, tart du jour, and macaroons served with a choice of either hot tea or black coffee. We opted for black coffee and it was very aromatic and smooth.

A closer look at its savory

I must say my favorite from the first tier was definitely the scrambled eggs with fine herbs and smoked salmon. It was really appetizing and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The smoked salmon was too good! The focaccia (flat oven-baked Italian bread) was not bad especially when eaten with trio of dips. Next, we had the croissants. They were very fluffy and buttery. The scone was even better. One of the best I've ever eaten!

A closer look at the sweets
From left: Gateau Opera, Macaroon, Lemon Madeleines, Tart du Jour, Porfiterols, & Creme Brulee

They were all so good and looked so fine. My favorite sweet from this plate is none other than the vanilla creme brulee. All the items on this palate were really sweet except for that Tart du Jour. It has an acerbic lemon taste to it which helps to balance out the sweetness. I love desserts, therefore the sweetness didn't bother me at all. Some may find the desserts being too sweet, but I love eating them just the way they are. Also, the lemon madeleines and profiterols are very enticing. The macaroon is somehow palatable, might not be one of the best I've ever eaten. After all, I find this afternoon tea set very enjoyable although very pricey to me. Great food and friendly service. It would not hurt to try at least once right?
